Open Call for a Showcase Designer Position

WE ARE NOW CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

Hi, everyone!  This is an opportunity for you to join me and my Showcase Design Team as a designer, whose fun job is to be among the first to play with a new release digi!  This is a somewhat rare opportunity as I have two very reliable and stable design teams at both AW Blogs.   This is the first open call since July of 2014.  AuroraWings does not hold regular interval open calls.  Listed below are what you will be doing as a member of the AW Showcase DT.

  • Design a card or other paper product sample for my new release on a relatively short notice (1 to 2 weeks) but no more than 2 times per month
  • Schedule your own blog post (or other social media postings) to coordinate with the new release of the particular digi and its showcase right here at this blog
  • Help spread the word about the new digi and special events at the AW Facebook group on any social media you use

My ideal candidate will have the following qualities.
  • A fan of AuroraWings digital stamps and love playing with them
  • Not involved in too many DT obligations so you have time to create for me and with me
  • Not a regular DT member of any digi companies'/artists' showcase/challenge blogs (DT work with private challenge blogs is fine.)
  • Love entering challenges and blogging about your craft projects using AW digis
  • Be familiar with the basic blog functionalities
  • Does not have to be an advanced crafter/colorist, but creates with passion and joy
  • Good at written communications in English (via e-mail, Facebook PM, etc.) and enjoy sharing details of your work in your blog posts
  • Experience with designing for blogs (showcase or challenge) helpful, but not required
  • Be able to stay with us for a period of 6 months (with option to renew) and be able to give a month's notice when ready to leave the team, unless some RL circumstance makes it impossible
  • Good time management/organization skills and ability to meet deadlines

Here's what a showcase blog designer, if chosen for the position, will get.

  • Your blog badge as a designer for AW Showcase Blog
  • Opportunity to design samples with new release digis BEFORE they are available to the public
  • Access to a small, designers-only FB secret group, where most communications will take place
  • Having your sample work featured on AW's Etsy listings with your blog links
  • Access to AW digis on demand for personal projects separate from your sample work
  • Opportunity to GDT for our Challenge Blog
  • First consideration will be given to Showcase Blog Designers when a Challenge Blog DT opening becomes available

If this is something you'd be interested, I would like to ask you to please send your e-mail to aurorawingsshowcase(at)aol(dot)com with the subject line "Designer Position Application".   Please include the following questions and your answers in your e-mail (copy and paste the following questions and fill out with your answers).  I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you!!

New Release Showcase - Miyabi

Hi, everyone!  Thank you so much for stopping by to check out our new release showcase today!!  Since our last showcase with Little Kitsune Anko, I've been bitten by the Japan bug.  It's the cherry blossom time of the year - it makes me nostalgic every spring.  So, when an inspiration strikes, I don't resist.  I run with it.  And this is the result.  I have a new image of a lovely maiko (a young apprentice geisha) with the full set of hair ornament.  I've been wanting to make a maiko/geisha digi that honors the traditional beauty in its authentic way.  I've titled this one Miyabi - a somewhat old-fashioned Japanese word for the type of elegance and refinement the ancient capital, Kyoto offers.  It's also one of my favorite Japanese words, and it's the middle name I gave to my child.  ^_^  I hope you enjoy this special showcase.  The DT has worked hard to bring you this gallery of gorgeous interpretations.  Feast your eyes on these gorgeous makes!

"Miyabi" digi is available in two versions - figure-only version and with full background of kimono textile pattern.  Here are the specifications and links to the listings.

Miyabi Figure-Only Version - 1650 x 2100 pixels at 300 dpi, JPG 5.5" x 7" or 14 x 17.8 cm approx.

Miyabi Full Version - 2100 x 2400 pixels at 300 dpi, JPG 7" x 8" or 17.8 x 20.3 cm approx.

And if anyone is interested in coloring her up to be an authentic maiko, I have this guide you can look at.  These guidelines are meant to be suggestions, not an absolute rule.  It's also to help you identify what's what in her elaborate hair-do and layers of kimono, which can be confusing in line art.  ^_^

Hope you enjoyed today's new release showcase!  Thank you so much for stopping by.
Happy coloring, and have a great weekend!
